Prior to heading to Siem Reap we were feeling completely templed-out. So much so that we started to avoid going to temples (horrible, I know)! That said, the temples of Angkor blew our minds. They are not just temples, they are an truly an amazing piece of Cambodian history.

We found that the areas we enjoyed the most were often the ones away from the large swarms of tourists, or when we got lost as we explored the nooks and crannies of the complexes, where others did not seem to go. Once you escape the large groups of people piling out of the buses, Angkor is a truly magical and often times, serene place.

We decided to do the temples over two days. We hired the tuk-tuk driver who picked us up at the bus station on our arrival into Siem Reap. His name was Leo. The first day we did the small loop (which despite the name, was filled with all the big temples. We spent two hours at Angkor Wat alone!).

There really isn’t much more you can say other than simply posting the pictures for you all to see the incredible beauty of Angkor.
